The 2022 Sergio Sismondo certificate states. “1840 1 penny black, imperforate, on medium white wove paper with watermark “Small Crown upright, lettered D-K. The stamp is genuine, unused with part of the original gum. The stamp has two large margins, but it is cut/touching the framelines at upper left and lower right. It has fresh color, and part of original gum. Some gum was added, especially at center left. The gum covers some pencil markings, which in turn hide shallow thinning. There are no other faults or repairs. The stamp was printed from plate 6. The upper right square is missing its vertical edge, this is not a fault since it is a constant plate variety for this position on Plate 6. It depicts the then young Queen. And was printed in sheets of 240 from 11 different plates by Perkins, Bacon & Petch. It is also the first of the avidly collected LINE ENGRAVED issues of. And the issue is also actively collected by sheet position which is indicated in the lower corners of the stamp from position A-A to position T-L.
