GB QV College Stamps. From 1871 adhesive stamps were introduced but on January 28th 1886 the Postmaster General objected to the issuing of’private’ stamps. After threatening legal action, the colleges agreed to withdraw the stamps and postal stationary. Keble College, Oxford stamps in a block of 6 with no gum (no imprint – chevron blunt) Issued May 1882 and printed in litho by Emberlin & Son. Hertford College (1879) Postal Stationary Envelope printed and supplied by Spiers & Son. It is in very fine condition with a tiny bit of foxing on the uppermost rim.
